EDUCATION LOTTERY RETAILERS RECEIVE RECOGNITION

Higher payouts on tickets and enthusiasm for the lottery appears to be paying off for some North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) retailers. Two Greensboro Region retailers have increased sales from 189% to 194% and have been named "Stellar Sellers." Another retailer has been named a "S.T.A.R." for its enthusiastic in-store promotion of the lottery.

NCEL retailers that have increased their sales by the highest percentage in the region compared to the previous quarter earn the title of "Stellar Seller." One location per region earns the title of "S.T.A.R." (Spectacular Technique Achieving Retailer), based on NCEL sales representative recommendations for a store's unique sales promotion technique. The NCEL announces the following retail locations in the Greensboro Region named "Stellar Seller" or S.T.A.R.:

	TJ Mart, 4044 Old Linwood Road, Lexington TJ Mart increased its sales by 194.81%. At TJ Mart, staff members say being friendly to customers and using good sales techniques has paid off and helped increase their lottery ticket sales.
	Bills Truck Stop, Inc., 1210 Snider Kines Road, Linwood Bills Truck Stop, Inc. increased its sales by 189.22% compared to the previous quarter. Sherry Freeman at Bills Truck Stop, Inc. attributes its success to the large amount of support from regular customers. "We have quite a bit of traffic, which is to our advantage," Freeman says. "We can't keep the $10 tickets on the shelves."
	Midway Mobil, 1340 National Highway, Thomasville Midway Mobil earned its "S.T.A.R." status for its enthusiasm for the lottery and dedication to its players. Sabrina Owens of Midway Mobil has "picks of the day" and features a specific game each day. "I really get into it," says Owens. "I keep players informed and have a lot of one-on-one interaction." The store keeps voided tickets on hand so cashiers can show players how to play the games. Owens also says her staff members make sure that customers know that local players are winning.
